LGBTQ+ Couple's Boudoir
Fun fact: LGBTQ+ Boudoir was something big in my mind starting this business. ALT has inclusion built into its DNA: the very first brand-defining text ever written was about standing strong with all peoples, regardless of where they are on any spectrum of gender, sex, or race. I wanted, purposefully, to create a place of empowerment for everyone. Where someone who, possibly, has struggled with body dysmorphia for years could come and leave feeling sexy and confident in their own skin. It’s an important feeling, I think, to see yourself in a positive light.
I’m fortunate enough to have many members of the LGBTQ+ community in my life, but a couple of particular note are Mr. and Mrs. B. I’ve known them personally for years, and they’re kind enough to be very open about their own place in the LGBTQ+ community. I’ve learned much from them, and I thank them for allowing me to do a couple’s boudoir shoot with them and share the story!
Mr. B is a post-op transgender man.
Mr. and Mrs. B love each other very much, and we got some fantastic shots of them together, which also exemplifies why I love couple’s boudoir: all of my favorite shots come from them looking at each other, even if one partner is off-camera. Any stress or anxiety from being in front of a camera in a studio melted away, and it was just the two of them sharing a moment.
At our photo review, they both found images they loved - images that showed both of them in a new light. They left talking about what they loved about each other - the parts that they found attractive about their partner, even when the partner didn’t.
I enjoyed the experience of bringing this couple joy. They’re the sort of people I made this company for! If you have a similar story, I’d love to hear from you. At ALT, we believe that everyone is beautiful. Let’s work on it together.
